Accede Recognizes Mike Spicer on Earning NYS Toolmaker Certification
Accede Mold & Tool Co., Inc. is proud to recognize team member Mike Spicer for earning his New York State Toolmaker Certification through the New York State Registered Apprenticeship Program, sponsored regionally by the Rochester Technology & Manufacturing Association (RTMA).
RTMA has been a long-standing partner of Accede, supporting the company’s commitment to developing skilled professionals and advancing excellence in manufacturing.
Mike’s journey in the trade began at age 18, when he started working as a machinist alongside his father, Gordon, a mold maker with more than 30 years of experience. Encouraged by his father to pursue a career in moldmaking, Mike took the first step toward building a future in a highly skilled and rewarding trade.
Through his apprenticeship, Mike committed to developing his craft while earning a paycheck—gaining hands-on experience under the guidance of seasoned professionals. Over the next 12 years, he expanded his expertise by working at different moldmaking shops, including Accede, where he developed strong capabilities in advanced machining.
In 2024, Mike returned to Accede, recognizing it as the right long-term fit for his career.
Shortly after his return, Danielle Fox, Organizational & Employee Development at Accede, encouraged him to complete his New York State certification.
“Accede wanted to ensure that I was successful in my position—not just for them, but for me,” Mike shared. “When they approached me about completing my certification, it showed that I wasn’t just another number. That’s exactly why I came back—and why I plan to stay.”
When asked what motivated him to pursue certification, Mike said, “I wanted that sense of accomplishment—something that validated the effort I’ve put into this industry. It also gives me confidence that I have the knowledge to succeed in any role.”
With support from RTMA and Accede, Mike successfully completed the program. Accede’s partnership with RTMA continues to create opportunities for both current employees and students to “earn while they learn” through hands-on training—often leading to long-term, successful careers in manufacturing.
Mike described his experience with RTMA as exceptional. “It’s clear they care about people. They made the process simple, streamlined, and stress-free.”
Today, Mike holds the position of CNC Technician at Accede. With his extensive experience and Toolmaker certification, he brings versatility across multiple Specialty Departments within the company—making him a highly valued member of the team.
Accede Mold & Tool congratulates Mike Spicer on this outstanding achievement and looks forward to his continued growth and contributions.
