“When Mold Building Clicks.” How do you get younger students excited about manufacturing? You let them see firsthand how fun and fascinating it is. On November 28, 2022, Accede Mold & Tool demonstrated their knowledge and passion for the industry by conducting a tour for local junior and senior high school students. Bob Coyne, Executive Director of Rochester Technology and Manufacturing Association (RTMA), in conjunction with the Finger Lakes Youth Apprenticeship Program (FLYAP), helps to facilitate the next generation of manufacturing professionals. They accomplish this by connecting students to local companies such as ACCEDE for job shadowing and co-op opportunities. We were honored to be given the opportunity to present the exciting world of plastic injection mold building. Leading the tour was Mitchell Fox, ACCEDE Lead Moldmaker. He expressed his enthusiasm by saying, “Events such as these are the first step to increasing

Inspiration. Enlightenment. Humility. I was asked to write a reflection piece after my attendance at the 2022 Plastics News & Rubber News Women Breaking the Mold Conference on November 14-15. Three words summarize my feelings about the event: inspiration, enlightenment, and humility. For two days, I was surrounded by the most influential and knowledgeable women in this industry, gaining an education that goes beyond the “how to”. Joel Ferrigno, ACCEDE Manufacturing Engineer and mentor for Greater Rochester Robotics – Team 340, agrees. On October 22, 2022, he helped lead the team to the Semi-Finals at the FIRST® Robotics Rah Cha Cha Ruckus event in Rochester, NY. This was one of many robotic events Joel has been involved with. For ACCEDE’s Joel Ferrigno, FIRST® Robotics has been a passion since high school. He joined Greater Rochester Robotics – Team 340 as a freshman at Churchville-Chili High School. He and his teammates succeeded in winning seven different awards. He continued his dedication with robotics while attending college at SUNY Polytechnic Institute. Because there were no robotics clubs to join, he started his own team: The Second Mouse – Team 5030. He brought together surrounding high schools to expose them to the excitement of...

Accede Mold & Tool hosted their 4th annual Manufacturing Day on October 6 and 7, 2022. Continuing with past successes, we showcased our state-of-the-art moldmaking to students and educators. Our “Walk the Process” of plastic injection moldmaking included visits throughout each ACCEDE department with hands-on activities. Students and educators gained insight and knowledge while presenters shared their pride and excitement for their careers in the moldmaking industry. Brett Lindenmuth, VP of Operations and MFG Day Tour Guide & presenter, says, “This day provides exposure for the students to manufacturing, specifically moldmaking, where it can be limited throughout their school years. We look forward to showing them the opportunities they may not be aware of.” Since our first event, ACCEDE has introduced nearly 200 students and educators to the moldmaking industry.
